About us

Arty-Physical provides high quality dance education, small scale performance and participatory dance projects to schools and rural communities within Yorkshire and beyond.

We currently work with eleven partner schools across Calderdale and Kirklees and are currently touring the Norse Myths Project - an interactive performance project based around Norse Mythology and the Vikings.

Arty-Physical offers the planning and delivery of bespoke units of dance tying into the EYFS, KS1 and KS2 of the National Curriculum. Our units of work provide the opportunity to enhance PE provision within your school and to make effective use of Sports Premium Funding.

The Arty-Physical Team

Our team consists of two dance artists; Jamie Boylan and Giorgio de Carolis.  Jamie is a qualified primary school teacher, and Giorgio is an experienced higher education lecturer. As we are teaching artists, a spirit of pedagogy stands at the centre of our practice. 

Jamie and Giorgio are all fully insured independent teachers with Enhanced DBS Certificates, presented to the school at the start of each contract.

Jamie Boylan  
Lead Artist

Jamie Boylan is a freelance dancer, teacher and choreographer based in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. With a PGCE in Primary Education, Jamie holds full QTS as well as Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. 
 He is a fully insured professional member of People Dancing and is experienced at delivering dance across a range of educational contexts.

Giorgio de Carolis
Associate Dance Artist

Giorgio de Carolis is an international dance artist/ facilitator with experience in theatre and outdoor performance. 
He danced nationally and internationally for Henri Oguike Dance Company, Motionhouse, Joli Vyann, La Petite Mort Theatre, Vis Ballet (Italy) and he continues his practice to date independently.
