NORSE MYTHS PROJECT

NORSE MYTHS PROJECT

The development the Norse Myths Project has been made possible through a creative business award from the Deutsche Bank and the contribution of independent investors through a CrowdFunder campaign. Support in kind has been provided by Stubbings Infant School, Hebden Bridge and Walsden St Peter's CE (VC) Primary School, Rochdale.

The project was selected and programmed by Listaleypurin, a school touring programme in the Faroe Islands, financed by the Ministry for Culture, Education and Research, the Association of Municipalities and the Nordic House; the tour took place in January 2018.

There are various packages and pricing structures available to schools and community organisations. Please get in touch for further information.

Our Offer

The Norse Myths Project is a one day immersion into the history and mythologies of the Vikings through dance.

Our basic offer includes two 1 hour dance workshops (maximum 60 children in total) and a rehearsal session during which children learn and rehearse a section of repertoire which can be performed as part of the professional performance.

The experience culminates with a 30 minute professional performance by Arty-Physical into which the work of the children is integrated.

Cross curricular learning

In addition to the dance workshops and performance, we have a range of learning resources available to schools, which draw upon national curriculum objectives from the areas of History, Art, Design Technology and English. These can be used to deepen and develop the learning of the workshop participants before and after the visit, or as a means to involve a wider spectrum of children from across the school within the thematic content of the project. Activities include the construction of a Viking longship and/ or the production of an oil-pastel composition to illustrate the Nordic story of creation.
